Crush your competition with your Self-image
What a difference your self image mindset can make. Back in school, I was a smart guy but didn’t have an image of where I was going in life. I wasn’t scared or insecure, I just had no idea what I was missing out on. However, it meant that I sold myself out for cheap laughs. People knew me as the class clown and no one would take me seriously. Looking back, being in a position where you can’t see the path you’re on is a scary thing. The key to attracting your goals is to create a mental image of yourself in the future and attract yourself to it.
Bob Proctor puts it the best I have ever heard it: An acorn knows it wants to be an oak tree. The blueprint inside the acorn is of an oak tree. Once you put the seed in the ground, the acorn starts attracting everything it needs to become an oak tree out of the ground. the acorn will keep attracting from its environment that which it needs to fulfill its future self image.
Here’s the awesome part: our minds work in the same way. We attract what we need from our environment to become how we see ourselves. Being human, we have an advantage over acorns because we can choose to become whatever tree we want. We have the opportunity to change our internal blueprint of growth. I went from someone who is not clear on their future, to someone who has a vision of exactly how their life will plan out, right down to the numbers. I went from living every day in an environment that expected more of the same, to surrounding myself with millionaires, charitable givers, community development leaders, and other examples of success I could follow. This environment expected me to do something different.
The only thing separating people who want to build everyday and people who coast through life is PASSION. I know this, because I used to not know my true passion. As John C Maxwell says, “Passion is the great motivator and energizer”. Put very simply, follow the path of your passion and you will find how to be successful.
